I backed slightly into a snow bank and a censor popped out of the bumper. So it beeps like crazy when I back up. Called two Ford dealers. First said they don't deal with things like that and suggested I take it to a body shop. Second one said they'd have to take the bumper off. Probably $600 minimum. But I was welcome to make an appointment in 6 weeks.

I'm gonna take it to a local guy. Probably take him 10 minutes.

My daughter's new car is not self-driving, but it shuts off the engine when the car stops at lights, etc.

I hate that feature and wouldn't have a car that did it. Even as a passenger I do not like having the car
start itself when the light turns green and we want to go.

I once rented a BMW (no I didn't - that's what they gave me as an "upgrade").
It kept shutting off on idle and restart when I put a little pressure on the accelerator.
It did all sorts of weird things like open the trunk by itself when parked - good thing I wasn't in my usual kind of neighborhoods.

No BMW for me.

If I owned that car I would be at it with my wire cutters.

I don't like high maintenance or psycho

in my cars

or my women.

And that car was like some psycho women I once knew. Shudder.

The interesting thing about electric heater in cars - some IC cars have electric heaters that go on when the car is cold. I've driven that - not bad. But not full time. At least in IC it uses waste energy for heating - at the start, engine runs faster and the increased load on the alt helps warm up the car.
