Betty,

I will say this for the SF Bay Area: It is by light years a far more pleasant place to live than is the L.A. area. By comparison, he will think he has died and gone to heaven.

Agreed, Marin County is one of the priciest areas in California. It is also home to some very strange ordinances and customs--with more to come. Even San Francisco shakes its collective head at the extremes of Marin County.

It would seem to me that any work done on a computer would lend itself to telecommuting but, of course, I don't know the specifics of your son's profession. I do know that more and more companies in this area are looking to telecommuting, for at least a few days out of the week, as an alternative. Me? I think telecommuting is the only way to fly. I've been doing it for over ten years, but then I free lance, so to speak. Even then, hopeless gridlock and the lunacy on the bridges had a lot to do with my career decision--situations which have gone from bad to nearly impossible (impassible?).
