I don't know if you guys noticed, but Costco's recently announced sales for Jan outpaced Sam's Clubs and Walmart by a wide margin. I think Sam's were up 3.5% same store growth while Costco did 8%. I also think Costco delivered outstanding 10% overall sales increases.

I say in a good market this stock can rock to 50 pretty quick especially given the positive long term outlook for this economy. Every time I think about ditching my shares for a quick buck (I'm in at the mid 30's) I force myself to go into the store and look at all the great merchandise available and the long lines of carts at the checkouts full of TV's, computers, clothes and groceries. It's becoming the one-stop shopping mall. Sell 'em? Not me! Not now!

PS: A hidden plus about owning the stock is that when you shop at Costco you can feel ambiguous about the long lines!

Wow, Mat!

I was beginning to wonder if you were back in the hospital. glad to hear its only your link and not anythng more...electrical?

Thanks for the info on the tax thing. My impulsive nature being what it is I shot off a post the moment my wife showed me the form which happed to be when I was on the modem. That makes a great deal more sense - what you said - tha what I was imagining. You'd think that for a guy who works for a branch of local govt and is constantly hearing the whinnings of those who imagine unfairness where it does not exist that I would be able to control my own tendancy to jump to conclusion. But then....I suppose the opposite could be said huh. it takes one to know one! < RBG>

I haven't had any problems getting on line or posting, I use a local provider, mom and pop store, in Bellevue called "BLARG On Line!"
Works well enough for my needs and it's the right price, $12.45 pe month unlimited use. I have local access to their system however. If you have to dial in through their Seattle number it's not as great, so I hear from a freind of mine who his ready to quit them.

Got to run, Go Costco!
