I was also frankly amazed when you insisted that if cigarette companies were secretly and illegally paying a biotech company to grow tobacco that is stronger than the law allows, they were doing it so that people would be able to smoke LESS [sic] cigarettes!!

There is nothing "illogical" (your word) about this statement. It has been demonstrated that smokers who switch to low-tar, low-nicotine cigarettes smoke more of them than they did of their old brand. Cigarettes made with tobacco that has a higher-than-normal nicotine content would be useful for workers who have only a limited numbers of breaks on which they can smoke. The companies will, however, always make a greater profit on low-tar, low-nicotine products.

Christine,

A Blast From The Past:

Christine,

You write: ". . . it drives me nuts when people offering no
information, logic, awareness or anything remotely resembling
reality just wing it, presenting their opinions as irrefutable
fact."

Ya' know, Christine, that ticks me off too. Another thing that
bugs me nearly to distraction is people who deliberately
misinterpret the intent of a post and/or take it out of its
original context, leaving the casual reader/lurker to think
something is, when it isn't. I really hate it when that happens.

Christine,

Alas, I fear you have rudely crashed a gala party and stridently commanded the center of attention. You have shouted and cavorted, and the guests have politely tolerated your boorish intrusion into these festivities. You have insisted everyone dance with you, even the war veteran with the prosthetic leg. You have offended sensitive eyes and ears with prurient prattlings. You have insulted and attempted to stifle some of the most sparklingly witty and entertaining guests. You force inane discourse upon the partygoers and cast a somber pall on the merrymaking. You have sloshed your wine and gauchely allowed your canapes to fall into the punch bowl. I fear you have perhaps overstayed your welcome. Please, you really are in no condition to drive. Do let me call you a taxi to take you home. Here, have some coffee while we wait for your taxi. It will make you feel ever so much better.
