That debt has to be paid in taxes.
It's not going to be a visible tax b/c that is not politically viable.
As I recall, Necons rebuked the need to financing their wars and scoffed at the idea of total costs (with VA care and what not) exceeding $1T, even though it was a GOP budget office that calculated it.

Eventually there is a time to pay the piper. And now we are there.
