James Cramer of theStreet.com fame from time to time mentions his wife, "The Trading Goddess". There is a rather recent tradition on Wall St and the financial media that women's words are to be given a special place of honor, and so, to some extent, is it here on the Iomega thread. In the case of Ms Rothstein there is the further magic that she is a real life MD. My experience is that women in the financial world talk about the same amount of nonsense as the men, but that they are accorded much more reverence. I wish it were otherwise.

>>Mel, I would like my IOM investment to at least go up by the amt. the S&P or the NAZ went up this year. Is that asking too much?<<

Sheila -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Iomega outperform the S&P for 1997? That is, if you go from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31?

I just checked the charts. The S&P was up a bit over 30%, but IOM was up over 40%.

Yes, I know it's underperforming now, but the year isn't over yet.

Sheila,

<I would like my IOM investment to at least go up by the amt. the S&P or the NAZ went up this year>

Just to set the record straight; IOM was up 43% in 1997 and out performed the DOW, NAZ and S&P by a wide margin. In addition, this is significantly better than your 25% which was average at best.

Granted IOM is down so far this year, but the year is still young. My estimate is that IOM will appreciate approximately 25-30% in 1998 or about 50-60% from here.
