Rule of 20 forward S&P 500 fair value is about 2,788 SPX based upon FY 2022 earnings of $223 and 7.5% CPI.

Using TTM earnings, the Rule of 20 Fair Value for the S&P 500 is 2,625 SPX.

Using 2022 earnings and 3.5% estimated inflation YOY in Jan. 2023, you get 3,680 SPX as Rule o f20 fair value in Jan 2023. That may be the more reasonable middle ground of the valuations.
