Half of a home network is still a good deal.

I can now move files back and forth between two computers, it is controlled from one computer for now. You do it in Windows Explorer. I can copy files to and from Zeus1 and to and from Zeus2. It is as easy as copying a file from one folder or drive to another. It is one more nail in the coffin of the floppy disc. I would have liked to have tried the shared access to the Internet but it looks like I'll place that on hold for now. It gives me more incentive to build SuperG!

My Aptiva now has new BIOS. It was a fairly basic operation. I found the software on the IBM site, downloaded it through the Internet, sent it to the Aptiva on my home network and then installed it.

The installation process was quite simple. They gave me a .exe file. I put it on the C: drive and then executed it from a DOS prompt. It asked for a floppy disk and then copied some files to it. I then booted the machine with the floppy disk in the A: drive and it asked me a couple of simple questions and the process was completed. It took about five minutes once I had the BIOS upgrade software. I have no idea if it is always this simple as this is the first time I have upgraded BIOS.
