Well, you have to remember he really has nothing to draw on for comparison -
no other single product combines seamlessly integrated simultaneous remote access to the corporate LAN, FAX servers and voice/PBX networks in a true client-server environment and operates over conventional dial-tone POTS lines.

Employees can virtually take their desks with them wherever they go since they aren't tied down to expensive and often unavailable dedicated digital lines.

Client:port ratios can be adjusted to achieve maximum utilization of server ports.

Client units available as industry-standard single EISA or PCMCIA cards allowing virtually any PC to accept them with plug-n-play ease.

All of this yet the systems are priced no higher than any plain data-only RAS.

(Oh, I forgot, Ms. Vicks said we don't know anything about what it does.)

Jemuel, have you noticed that 90% of what BT offers is achieved with a $25 modem and that convenience of accessing cryptic PBX commands aren't viewed as worthwhile extensions given the cost of this system? Jemuel, the simple fact is, few people want to install and maintain a proprietary system to extend an already out of date phone system.

For those few that do, there are several competing products, most of which are are far more successful than BT is or will ever be, IMO. Look, a consortium backed by Microsoft and Intel has defined a standard voice and data integration and we'll see that develop into commercial products very quickly. That is, just say no to proprietary tangles and yes to industry wide support.
