ARNA closed at 99.93, near the 100 buyout price from PFE. No wonder my portfolio is holding up. BMY is also hanging in there.

The continued closure of the Russian stock market seems to have resulted in another week of volatility and losses in the broader US and international markets, prompting nervous investors looking for a safe haven to buy … Biotech stocks? Well, at least the S&P Biotech index was a positive territory, and the contest portfolios showed gains of 1.1%.

For all that there were some individual big movers: ALBO up 21.4% for the week brought it to #2 in YTD performance, while OPTN was the big looser for the week, moving from 1st to 4th in the YTD rankings. In terms of the portfolios, twenty of the thirty three contestants were positive for the week, still not enough, alas, to bring anyone into the YTD black. In the top ten portfolios, ERIK and JACK HARTMANN are this week’s returners.

The Euro has been down relative to the dollar in general, due to interesting times, which has not helped those with stocks in European markets.

I have crept into first place for now, in part due to ARNA.
