Sorry, Big D, to appear a little vague in answering your questions, but are you asking whether Billy is guilty of (1) just boinking Monica, or (2)perjury, suborning perjury, obstruction of justice and witness tampering as well? Before he came out during that education conference and talked to all Americans directly in his "I want you to listen to me . . ." speech and explicitly denied having sexual relations with Monica and ever asking anyone to lie, I might have given him the benefit of the doubt. If he had acknowledged whatever he HAD done, or even said that he was having nonspecific personal problems that were too private to discuss, and asked for understanding and maybe forgiveness, I would have given him mine. Since he pointed his finger at every American and denied everything, making it personal and drawing a line in the sand, however, I feel like he was talking to me, and I don't like being lied to. I think we have all heard his voice on Gennifer Flowers' tape urging her to deny that affair, and so his credibility in the speech didn't convince me at all that he was being truthful. I don't think the sex scandal is really the point--it's his underlying character and integrity. I, for one, am coming to the point where I cannot ever believe him. So if he lied, yes, at this point he should resign. Incidentally, I am not a conservative Republican or anything. I tend to be moderate/liberal, and am afraid that keeping him in office will just destroy the chances of the Democratic party in the next election. I think a balance of power between the two parties is healthy in America, and am afraid of what will happen after a Republican landslide. I am a little surprised, frankly, that I have not heard very many views similar to mine--people who are generally favorable to this president's policies, but think he is now a liability. Most people seem to fall into two camps--conservative Republicans who want him gone even more now, but never liked him or his politics, and liberals, especially women, who want him to stay in power no matter what he has done. I am happy that my teenaged daughter is growing up with equal opportunities for her future, and I make sure in every way that I can that she is surrounded with men and boys who truly love and respect women. I am always pointing out what is healthy about the males she knows, and how damaging and hurtful to women men are who lie and cheat and hurt their families. This is a hard lesson to teach when the president, who is supposed to be the nation's chief officer of the law, appears to be doing things that are illegal, and hurtful to his family as well. I am not a morally judgmental person, and if a president can keep his sex life private, he is welcome to it. But it seems that Bill Clinton has been so sexually excessive over such a long period of time that he was unable to do that. And I also am very puzzled by feminists seem to have very double standards, dividing women into two camps, respectable women and bimbos who just prey on this president. Talk about victimization!!! Poor Billy!!! It seems like a pretty convoluted rationalization to me. Anyway, I would not trust the president with my daughter, and that is very sad. So yes, I think he is guilty, and I think he should resign.
