I would assume you can run the 100mhz SDRAM in a 440LX board--at 66mhz. If you think about this for a sec, it makes perfect sense. Otherwise, you wouldn't need a BX! (Some manufacturers let you overclock the bus speed on a LX board, though you'd be running beyond spec)

Nope. The chipset is basically the heart of the motherboard. Everything else is just connectors.
