Dwight, I got that information on the chronology of Kathleen Willey's husband's death from one of the news magazines last, week. I believe it was Newsweek, and I did get the sense it was reliable. HOWEVER, there is a very strange reference in the talking points document about the timing of his death, and I do not know what to make of it. Perhaps you could make some sense of it, in that light: <You and Kathleen were friends. At around the time of her husband's death (The President has claimed it was after her husband died. Do you really want to contradict him?), she came to you after she allegedly came out of the Oval and looked (however she looked), you don't recall her exact words, but she claimed at the time (whatever she claimed) and was very happy.> It is hard for me to believe that Clinton is purely evil. He certainly is good with people. However, as this scandal drags on I am getting a little cynical. On the ABC Sunday morning news program this morning, George Stephanopoulos remarked that on background, the White House staff is now threatening to reveal private details about the lives of anyone who pursues this against Clinton. He likened it to a situation in the Kennedy administration, where Robert Kennedy quickly had to get an East German spy girlfriend of JFK's out of the country to avoid a scandal. J. Edgar Hoover was about to have some sort of fit, and Bobby threatened to reveal aspects of his private life if he didn't shut up. As you may know, Hoover was not only gay, but lived with his boyfriend, who was also his assistant, and he liked to dress in women's clothing as well. This all went by really quickly, and I am not sure I understood all the details, but Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson appeared to be stunned by George's report of the new counter-attack coming from the White House. Sometimes, although it makes me feel very uncomfortable, it is NOT hard for me to imagine both Clintons involved in really nefarious activities, and it is only because of examples like this from reliable sources like Stephanopoulos that my views about them are becoming more fixedly negative.
