There already IS a standard. It's called CD-Rom. It is this medium that is used for data distribution. The 1.44 floppy has been replaced by CD, intranet/internet, and removeable drives. Each serves its own purpose, but only one, CD, has become the standard for one aspect of the floppy. Every desktop computer now ships with a CD-Rom (or DVD/CD) standard. There is no chance that a $15 Zip, a $10 Zip, a $5 Zip or even a $1 Zip would replace it. CD's are just that cheap to press.

Zip will not replace the floppy. It has topped out with its target consumers-- tech-heads, computer junkies, and perverts.

*If you're wondering what I'm doing up so late, earlier this evening I finished up an editing session for a rap song remix for a major major rap star here in NYC. My machine? An old Roland DM-80 8-track digital studio. It has two internal hard drives. The project was backed up using my SyJet. Worked perfectly. Now, I am off to bed after a night of unwinding and trying to warn any Iomaniacs who have the sense enough to listen for a drop of reason in the midst of the Rah Rah Rah.

Take care tomorrow. This week will be very interesting.

Do you know why IOM had stopped the Million Mark Zip shipment announcements?
