Why would they bother?
Because it would go a LONG way toward sowing FUD (that's Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt, for those of you in Rio Linda) and neutralizing Ukrainian propaganda.

As it stands right now, most of us watching the news already realize that the fog of war makes reports from the battlefield unreliable. One debunked report of a general getting KIA is to be expected.

By the way, no need to pretend that Russia doesn't care about propaganda. Like I said, already they're looking more like North Korea than China these days.

Even my Indian friends, who have access to media that is far less sympathetic toward Ukraine than us Americans, agree that PooTin looks much weaker than expected.
