Spots, I am here but I don't really want to get into a heavy discussion on this topic. I would like to see a solution to the issue which benefits SI. Thanks David for moving the discussion

I believe individuals who intend to disrupt will find a way to disrupt. If the stakes are raised, problems generally move to a higher level. It may have been some offended poster that did the bonk attack.

I think there are solutions of merit. The proposal of selectively previewing several posts in advance is a good idea.
...one possible downside to this idea will be to slow down the return of the next post.

Many of these issues are programming issues. I don't see how this thread can produce "the best desired solution" without input from the software engineers.

My position is that I would prefer not to be a member of a group that seeks to ridicule or chastise someone even if it is well deserved.

Regards

Zeuspaul

Your post brings to mind a long standing idea of mine.
One often has OFF TOPIC posts because you can't address the person
you want to post to on the thread you want to post on.

Why not be able to specify the SI user you want the post to be
addressed to without having to directly respond to one of their
post, of which there may be none or none recently?
