Like Obama, the Biden administration has dragged us through a series of international humiliations that appear calculated to weaken us as a world power and wipe out our credibility.

Biden has clumsily deployed sanctions and weapons shipments behind Putin’s strategic schedule, playing catch up with the pace of events while letting Russia take the lead. That hasn’t made the war any better or safer, instead it’s become more agonizing for everyone.
Vladimir Putin understands that wars are something you win, while the D.C. establishment doesn’t fight wars, but commits American forces to implementing multilateral values.

Just finished reading 2034, about WWIII between the US, China and Iran and tangentially, Russia.

I found this passage interesting enough to highlight it. The passage speaks to the above quote from the Greenfield article:

In war, it’s not that you win. It’s how you win. America didn’t used to start wars. It used to finish them. But now”—Patel dropped his chin to his chest and began to shake his head mournfully—“now it is the reverse; now you start wars and don’t finish them.”

Putin understands why he’s in Ukraine. Do we? What are our national interests there or anywhere? How does our employment of military force make us safer, stronger, or wealthier? Are we involved to keep energy and bread prices low, or to avoid a future war on worse terms?
No. Not really. We have theories - developed by bored smart people, interested in proving how smart they are. Zbigniew Brzezinski thought up some bullsh*t about pressuring Russia so hard and so far that they weaken - and never come back. Many years after he died, his theories still continue messing with the world.

Ukraine was not going to become a member of NATO - but, it was becoming that organization’s… colony. Who said that international orgs can’t be empires and keep colonies? NATO kept arming and training them, there were nato bases.

When Stupid Big Ideas succeed, the consequences can be terrible. Just look at Marxism and its variations.

It’s time to let Zbig Rest In Peace, or in hell, or wherever he is - and start working on a new Reset. Cancel the end of the world.

For starters, instruct PrezZ to negotiate the best deal he can - and save what’s left of his country.

Make Sense, not War.
