I generally agree with your assessment in terms of the history in "not leaving well enough alone"...

Will note it as "interesting" that American politicians are clearly drawn like flies to those places with the most egregious corruption...

But, also cannot ignore that the Russian side of the agreement that was made... that was a necessary condition in enabling the removal of the weapons from Ukraine... was the Russian's guarantees of Ukraine's security...

And, our participation in enabling that arrangement... makes us an interested party in guaranteeing both that Ukraine's interests under that arrangement that we enabled... and their commitments... are met.

Russia has egregiously violated their own agreements... and, they have not done so in response to provocations, but in a highly methodical order, that follows patterns also apparent in Russian interference in other neighboring states... in Transnistria... in Georgia... and in others... notably including the prior "takings" of Ukraine's real estate in Crimea. While also cannot ignore reality including Putin's... obvious intent, now... in threatening others...including Finland, Sweden, and NATO members Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, and even Poland... who in the west, because not "woke" enough, are derided by mindless and ignorant media as "pro-Russian"...

There are no economic or security interests at play affecting the US which are worth the huge risks involved.

That is simply not true... not now... not ever... even if it might have been more true prior to Putin invading...

And, if we didn't have WEF Alum Putin's incompetent fellow traveler Biden in the White House... abdicating America's prior place and role in keeping the peace in the world... Putin likely wouldn't have made the decision that he has...

Should be obvious as can be, still, that the Democrat's constant "Russia, Russia, Russia" thing... was all about pre-conditioning and enabling what we see now... as part of what the WEF crowd wanted and intended to enable... and Putin played his role by going along... and invading like they wanted him to...

That it hasn't gone to plan ? That it is only Ukrainians that have "mucked it all up"... by caring about their country not being made into a subservient Russian colony, again... and not cooperating with the Clinton/WEF/Russian plan to take over the world ... ? That doesn't make them bad guys...

That the global politics are gravitating to recognition that the Russians actions are unjust... and cannot be tolerated if we are to have a civilized world... is unfortunately focused more exclusively on Putin as the protagonist than "his crew" at the WEF who are part and parcel, right there...

I'm fairly comfortable noting that any American's participating in enabling any aspects of Claus Schwab's vision... are flagrant traitors to the Constitution... with dementia not actually a valid excuse...

The solution to the problem Russia has enabled for itself is fairly obvious... go back to Russia and quit threatening your neighbors... ya paranoid nut job... Although, I'm fairly sure Russians "paranoia" is largely staged as an excuse to justify themselves in doing what they want to do anyway... But, if "real" at all... clearly makes them easily exploitable... as you see in Putin's being lured into this by his WEF buddies... who are all laughing at him now... since the egregiously bad execution is all and only his...

But, since that solution that requires nothing but Russia "declaring victory" and going home isn't going to happen... ?

The next best solution should also be obvious...

Meet our obligations under our agreements... which we created for ourselves... by giving Ukraine their nukes back... what they do with them being none of our concern... and then maybe... let's re-start that discussion on the Ukrainian security guarantees given by Russia... ?

;<)

And, then... not done... we should find out what role the WEF, et al... and their supporters... might have played in fostering this war... and other recent "events" that have disrupted our peace and stability...

And, then... we should act in self interest... to resolve threats to global peace and prosperity... and our own.

It is not "an accident" that you see WEF alum Trudeau declaring the SAME war on his domestic political opponents in Canada... and declaring himself dictator of Canada... as you see Biden declaring in "sanctions" against Russia...

Biden, Trudeau of like mind... doing all they can to destroy their own nations... or, the parts of them they don't like... ?

There is a war already declared... and it isn't about Russia and Ukraine... but it isn't not about them, either ?

You would have been right if your analysis outlined in your response would happen in Y2K - since a lot of things have changed.

Have no special interest in Ukraine besides some friends via internet, and was invited to Donetsk in 2007 related some business which after few phone calls I realized that it is not my cup of tea.

All that said the economic impacts are very substantial and for many countries existential.

Read my post at . linkedin.com

... and other writeups related to the conflict which is insane and highly driven by ultra-nationalistic dictatorial and fascist theories on a brainwashed population.

I had Russian guests 10 to 14 years ago, that where former high ranking Russian officials in my home and understand more than the average Joe their way of their thinking. Only this morning spoke to friend in Siberia - the heatwave started there they have +20C now
The personal attack was because persons like you write things without a global view and have a short span of attention and strategic thinking.

Re-read my post and watch some of the videos posted on YouTube related to the unprovoked Russian invasions' and translate and read more of the Russian ultra nationalistic articles.

Based on your summary the US should have let the German NAZI regime conquer Russia and D-Day and the Africa expedition +Italy were not needed.

On the same token what strategic importance had Korea or Vietnam or Iraq or Libya to the US? Based on your logic - NOTHING!!! Same with Israel even less important to US policy if Russia where not involved in Syria.

One of the problems of the writers on this tread in general is the fact that they do not accept criticism or other views from people that know more about the subjects discussed/written.

I grew up in a so called "communist" country Romania in a multi-ethnic town of Lugoj. As a child befriended kids from all ethnic groups without problems, was requested to join the Romanian Security services at age 13 - yes they brainwash you from that age - my dad took the risk to tell the local Security Services that we are Jews that saved me I lived in NYC for 18 years after the death of my wife of bone cancer, after carrying for her for 5 grueling years, so I do have a much wider view than many others on this tread.

One of my biggest mistakes was; to be forced to return to Tel Aviv to care for my only relative my mother, because the US Healthcare system rightly, did not accept her as having in the past breast cancer.

At the end my mother after 4 grueling years was murderer in the city hospital to enable RE embezzlement by corrupt and well connected Israelis which laundered over $34 billion trough Bank Discount NYC (.fincen_assessment_of_civil_money_penalty.pdf).
The case went to the District Attorney Criminal Division but they found reasons not to pursue the case. At the time I posted this on SI. So much for Israeli justice.

carranza2 , was thinking some more about the reasons for the response, and please read what I write;

I am the son of Holocaust survivors, many in my parents family where brutally murdered, including with rifle buts. My father back was filled with deep scars, he never wanted to talk about it. He was during his army age an Cavalry Officer in the Romanian Army (yes before WWII they had cavalry units).

My mother did not permitted in our household to discuss things bout the suffering during the Holocaust. To the contrary being from Bucovina a German speaking region of Romania my mothers language was German and I went to German school.

Her believes where that a small group of vandals and criminals cannot erase a culture of a nation, even if they rose to power. She was right!

This sad part of the life of my parents family is that as a result of the horror of WWII most did not wanted children or could not have children due to the experimentations, this feeling is running in my veins and character.

What is happening in Ukraine today is basically the same what was happening in WWII, people are tortured raped and killed because they are considering themselves Ukrainians

The crimes committed by the Russian Army are even worse than those committed by the "SS Einsatz Truppen" in their cruelty.

This is not a normal war this is simply a genocide of a nation even that Ukraine is far from being a uniform nation but a country with many ethnic groups.

That is the underlying reason I think for my harsh response. I can understand that all this may be meaningless to you but not to me. .

C2, it seems to me that those of Russia Russia Russia mass formation psychosis are full blown rabid, full of fake news media telling them what to think and what's happening. Try reasoning with them etc and it goes nowhere.

I can see why Putin says negotiation is pointless = they don't have a listen and understand function.

So it seems that Russia is going to have to go nuclear since they have no hope of taking on USA/Eurostan all over the place simultaneously.

Hopefully the initial salvo will make the MAD free /sarc world get a bit serious and maybe even reconsider. It's hard to imagine sense, Haim etc seeing sense, so I suppose MAD will continue to escalate. Quickly.
