Am I the only person with no cell phone? I probably am.

Had one while I needed it or so I thought for business many years ago. Sinfully expensive and wrong. Dropped it and haven’t missed it. 24/7 access leads to rash decisions.

Even stopped answering my landline unless I recognize the number years ago. Check voice mail every few days. Mostly a waste of time. Much the same goes for emails.

Watching my wife being addicted to instant communication I can only shake my head but since I love her, I keep quiet even thou it burns my ass as she says “I need to take this”.

Instant communication leads to instant mistakes …

No need to call me an oddball. I already know I am.

I've always used a case. I don't buy them for style though. I buy the heavy-duty protective ones since I take my phone with me on the tractor and keep it near me when I'm working, cutting trees etc. If I cut my leg or have a tree come down on me, I can call for help. I've never broken a phone or cracked a screen like apparently so many others do.
As I've said before, I'm a penny pinching cheapskate. I had an old Nokia in the 90s-early 2000s that was one of the first to have a big screen (about 2 inches) so I could trade stocks on it. I LOVED that phone and still have it (not active though). It still fires up on a charge from years ago when I shut it down forever but out of curiosity, I turn it on once or twice a year. The battery would last a week and I charged it every Saturday morning. I was grandfathered into my plan and paid $9 for unlimited voice/data/internet.
My wife wanted an iPhone around 2010-12 and they had a deal so we got 2 phones. They didn't tell me it negated my plan and my bill skyrocketed to modern prices. I wasn't happy. LOL That thing was horrible. Actual phone calls were weak, dropped out. Everything was proprietary. Battery lasted a day if I was lucky.
Upgraded to Samsung a few years later when battery died. Phone service was better. Battery about the same. LOADED with bloatware. Navigation was a pain. Moving files from the iPhone near impossible. Apple tries to lock you in and trap you.
When battery died, I said enough. Bought Motorola cheap phone. Loved it. Have had 2-3 since then. Simple, functional, no bloatware, phone gets better signal than expensive ones. Guess I'm old fashioned but I expect a phone to work as a phone. I live in the boonies in a depression and have a weak signal. I laugh when people come over with their expensive phones and can't make a call, text or get on the web. Cameras aren't great but good enough.
My battery is starting to get weak but I haven't found a decent replacement phone yet. Reviews aren't that great for the ones out there right now. Motorola has one I like but it doesn't work on my carrier.
Was supposed to rain all day again but we're just cold and windy. I've heard 2 trees come down so far. Guess I'll be making firewood if the ground ever dries out enough to drive on.
