It could take minutes to find a solution to a problem, or it could take longer. I've found that almost without fail, compromise can be achieved, and everyone walks away getting something they want or need. Maybe that is too simplistic, but after many mistakes and misunderstandings, simple answers and simple solutions nearly always win the day. I'm not a diplomat, military person or politician steeped in the art or war, so I don't know how you work through the more difficult and dangerous situations like the ones facing Ukraine and Russia? But imo Scholtz is taking the right approach. Don't make rash decisions, get your questions answered, and answer any questions posed to you by others. If you don't have answers, find them. Try to better understand what and who you're facing, and then persist until the issue is resolved without further bloodshed and misery. I think that's where Scholtz is coming from, and it's good to see someone step forward who is interested in using that kind of diplomacy. I think Russia will end up with the Donbass region, or parts of the Donbass region, and probably the corridor to the Crimean peninsula. Ukraine will not join NATO, but if they're smart and take advantage of the "help" they're getting from the West. They could end up with one heck of an arsenal. Maybe they could even develop a strong and effective military? Better to build a legitimate army should another act of aggressive develop in the future. Almost a guarantee in that part of the world.
