Pancho, VERY Gutsy call!! IMHO, with the nonstop strength AOL showed today, plus the very strong possibility they will announce a split VERY soon, it MAY have been more prudent to wait another day or two before adding to the position, However..... No guts, no glory. Best of luck

PS I jumped in @ 107, and sold at 109 1/2, I liked my hit and run, till it kept goin up :-)

Dave

"Increased my (AOL) short by 50% one minute before the close"

Pancho! What are you getting yourself into?! <VBG>

Well, I hope you're getting into mucho dinero, not just for your sake, but also my own. (Short AOL since December, but no guts or margin to short more)

I believe you're right on expecting disappointing earnings news tomorrow. (disappointing for longs anyhow) Otherwise, I have this image of AOL trying to explain to their users: "Yes, we're making money hand over fist, AND we're raising your rates!"

I'm still hanging in there with my other high flyer shorts, AMZN and YHOO. In looking back, I sure wish I had bought calls to hedge my high flyer shorts at the same time I got into them. But I didn't, so I 'm just trying to be patient and wait for reality to catch up with them.

Mostly just lurking here, as many folks have been coming up with far more stinky stock ideas than I have margin to short. Covered AVNT for nice gain recently, shorted TERA and IFSC.

Pancho, re: AOL. Good luck tomorrow!

The increase to $21.95 is about $0.50 per share per quarter in revenue ... and Case has already cautioned analysts that NONE of this will flow to the bottom line. I guess their costs are increasing significantly<g>.

The earnings report tomorrow (and stock split announcement) will be very interesting.

Happy BD!
