I gave this a recommendation even though I didn't watch it. I know I'll be a big pile of mush. Dogs to me are the most special creatures we share this spinning rock with. I like them way more than people (in general of course).

This is how I felt about Mika. Losing her was one of the most painful moments of my life. Of all the dogs that I have known, Mika was the most respectful of all. I like to get physical with my dogs. Once (and only once) while playing she grabbed my hand too hard while I was pulling a toy out of her mouth. I will never forget her apologetic expression the moment she realized that she had been too rough with me. It was amazing.

Mika was by no means a pushover. I often had to keep her from picking a fight with the coyotes bigger than her. But she was truly gentle with the family. And she instinctively knew how to behave with different people and when to differ to you. Several times she suspected someone was trespassing and taking stuff from us. And each time she pinned the person until I came to tell her it was ok. She did not nip at them or anything. She just ran circles around them and stopped them from moving, like a sheepdog keeps the flock in a spot, until I came.

I miss her very much.
