"An all out nuclear war would probably even kill the cockroaches."

What about wood ticks? They really spoil the summer, I put Advantix on the dogs and always manage to get a little on myself which helps for a few months.

<<<An all-out nuclear war would probably even kill the cockroaches.>>>

Since I agree with all your analysis on the Ukraine war, I hesitate to disagree ...on this.... with you. But I do.

A hundred-pound stick of TNT's effects -exploded on the surface -will only be about 10-15% bigger and deeper than one pound. The proportions are the same as you increase the kilo-tonnage, even as you get to the million KT range. Such a weapon may destroy even reinforced concrete basements one kilometer away, but, putting aside LT radiation, blast effects will not reach beyond a one-mile radius. Even well within this perimeter, reinforced shelters will survive. IMHO.

If you are right, then humans beings have reached a watershed: allowing a full scale nuclear war would mean the end of human life. <<<Actually, given what I believe to be true of human nature, humans would then vanish from the earth.... because human beings - like Putin - would always push to what they believe are our limits. But as Clausewitz says, those limits are unknown even to those reacting, let alone those like Putin who have to guess what the victim's limits are.>>>

If I believed what you say about nuclear war, I would immediately switch over to our good Doctor's stance.

Human beings are just as tough and resilient as coyotes and cockroaches. IMHO.
