Yes, they are nuts, but are they any more nuts than the folks who institutionalized segregation, or sexism or bashing the LGBTQ community?

Or supporting wars like Vietnam and Iraq?

The silent majority have become the loud minority.

And even those crazy fucks, will not embrace racism, sexism or homophobia openly!

So there is some progress.

On Highway 80 at University Ave. in Berkeley there are many protests spanning decades, on the overpass with big banners for the literally thousands of packed cars to see. Anti wars, Medicare for all, stuff like that.

But yesterday it was a demonstration against masks and vaccines. A big trucker was blasting his horn in support when I went by.

These are weird times. I think we have a collective mental illness with the mass symptoms of paranoia now.

Science and public health loses to politics and numbskulls.

I'm beginning to understand how fascists like Pol Pot, Hitler etc. came to power with the support of common people across political lines, over time.

Our checks-and-balances institutions in this country must not fall. They are failing faster in the deep red states but I feel the seeds are growing here in the bluest regions of the Bay Area. (However note the traditional anti-vax community in Marin County that is otherwise very liberal and remains so.)
