It looks like the main benefit of the 440BX is just to get the higher end processors introduced. Intel isn't looking at much increase in performance.

I knew there was a dramatic improvement in the socket 7 K6 chip. Toms hardware has been testing that for a while now. It is unfortunate that the PENTIUM can not run at 100mhz. That would have given the K6 some serious competition...but then again INTEL knows exactly what they are doing. They just want to get rid of the PENTIUMs completely and have the PENTIUMII as their entire product line with no competition.
