This is Europe finally pulling up their pants to take on evil as it exists, and not pretend otherwise. The question for future historians is whether Russia would have been happier with Ukraine joining NATO, as compared to Finland and Sweden?

A 9500 person contingent of Polish and Lithuanian troops to enter Ukraine Very unlikely. Poland, however much it likes the idea of supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, wouldn't even allow their Migs to be flown directly from Poland to Ukrainian bases, despite transferring weapons, including aircraft, not being uncommon in the past from friendly non-belligerent powers. Lithuania may support Ukraine even more but it wouldn't send soldiers in to Ukraine to fight Russians either and in any case its entire army is only has a bit over ten thousand people and is focused on the possible (if very unlikely) threat closer to home.
