This is true and more serious than the tweet let's you believe. Several years ago scientists ran an experiment in Mexico to show that *composted* urine is both a safe (read won't spread disease) and effective fertilizer by getting impoverished neighborhoods to pee in cans of soda on rooftops and then use it for rooftop gardening.

Urine, or rather urea, has also been shown to be very effective in creating alternatives to concrete. Concrete causes more greenhouse gases and wastes more energy than any other industry.

We have been wasting away our planet's resources instead of using our inheritance wisely and saving for the future. It is time for that mindset to change. There is nothing smart about wasting resources in favor of convenience. Doing so is the very definition of laziness and stupidity.

I remember in China in the 80's when you would cross the Yangtze river on a ferry (there were no bridges), there would be a person on the other side to collect human feces if offered or already deposited during the ride.

They would use it to fertilize farmland.

It was pretty alarming to run into that back then, although not as alarming as watching a prisoner being paraded through a town like it was May Day before they took him somewhere and put a bullet in his head.
