The word we got is that people are being priced out of San Diego and San Francisco and those people are moving to LA. The housing market was still quite robust.

??? I don't understand what you mean. When I was in Palmdale, a typical water bill was more than my water, NG and electric bill here. Electric in So Cal is over double what it is here. Add in higher property tax rate on higher valuation home and it's super expensive to live there.
Everyone was trying to talk me into staying there when I retired. I got an okay job here so I lucked out but even if I didn't, I could have made 1/3 of what I'd have made out there and still been better off here.
Gasoline is cheaper here and I don't have to pay to park everywhere like there either.
They should just make California it's own country. It's unlike anywhere else in the USA other than pockets where the ex-pats moved and brought their madness with them.
