I saw a clip about him years later. I think he ran for Congress if I'm not mistaken. Can anyone confirm that? Bob

I believe his name was McCarthy and that he retired with a disability.

Now for the amazing part and the reason for this post:

The SS agent that played such a leading role in saving RR's life had decided to become a SS agent as a consequence of seeing one of RR's earliest films! The film was something like Code of the Secret Service or similar and RR played a SS agent. (Credit for this goes to RR friend Robert Stack and Unsolved Mysteries).
