The guy is totally clueless about nuclear reactors.

Congress wanted plutonium for bombs and same apply for the Soviet Union therefore they chose U 235 to generate U 244 or plutonium for raw material for bombs.

world-nuclear.org

even that thorium reactor where operating at Oakridge in early 1960thies congress chose the nuclear bomb material as did the Soviet Union which after the disintegration remained with too much plutonium within their various states.

Most reactors are light water reactors (of two types – PWR and BWR) and require uranium to be enriched from 0.7% to 3-5% U-235 in their fuel. This is normal low-enriched uranium (LEU). There is some interest in taking enrichment levels to about 7%, and even close to 20% for certain special power reactor fuels, as high-assay LEU (HALEU).

Uranium-235 and U-238 are chemically identical, but differ in their physical properties, notably their mass. The nucleus of the U-235 atom contains 92 protons and 143 neutrons, giving an atomic mass of 235 units. The U-238 nucleus also has 92 protons but has 146 neutrons – three more than U-235 – and therefore has a mass of 238 units.

The difference in mass between U-235 and U-238 allows the isotopes to be separated and makes it possible to increase or "enrich" the percentage of U-235. All present and historic enrichment processes, directly or indirectly, make use of this small mass difference.

and would add that all those liking the video on SI are clear Ass^%$es as they know nothing about nuclear physics.

Energoatom and Westinghouse Reaffirm Clean Energy Partnership, Announce Expanded Cooperation on Westinghouse-supplied VVER Fuel and AP1000® Plants to be Built in Ukraine

  • Major agreement signed with Energoatom to supply all nuclear fuel to the Ukrainian installed fleet
  • Additional agreement increases planned AP1000 plant fleet from five to nine units
  • Energoatom and Westinghouse agree to establish a Westinghouse Engineering Center in Ukraine in support of the planned AP1000 plant projects, as well as Energoatom’s current operating fleet and future decommissioning efforts

During the visit, Westinghouse and Energoatom also confirmed their intent to implement the previously signed agreement to deliver AP1000 plant technology for new nuclear power plants in Ukraine and expanded the number of committed AP1000 plants from five to nine. The AP1000 plant is a proven Gen III+ reactor featuring unique fully passive safety systems, modularized standard design, and industry-leading operability performance and load following capability. The design and build of the AP1000 plants will leverage significant US-Ukraine industrial cooperation, featuring content from supply chains in both countries.

“Even during this challenging time, we continue to work actively with Westinghouse, our strategic partner. We will expand the areas and scope of cooperation and are confident that together, we will not only write a new chapter in the history of Ukraine's nuclear energy, but also make an important contribution to the energy independence of Europe,” said Kotin.

“Westinghouse is proud to sign these agreements to fully support Ukraine’s current operating fleet with our industry-leading fuels and services and to increase the number of committed new AP1000 plants from five to nine. We greatly value our long-standing partnership with Energoatom and look forward to the work ahead to help advance Ukraine’s carbon-free future,” said Fragman.

War in Ukraine:
USA Obama Nuland Biden and co, 2013, "Why don't you and him fight? We'll give you lots of lovely loot and lots of whiz-bang shooting, zooming and exploding goodies. You deposit 10% of the money in this bank account so we can keep the loot flowing from USA taxpayers and citizens. Give Hunter a job at Burisma. Fire any Prosecuties who get nosey."
Kievans = "Seems like a good deal".
Coup, shootings, burnings, beatings carried out. Being a Russian-speaking Ukrainian goes down in value. New rulers ensconced in Kiev and the loot, guns and bombs start flowing by the giga$buck.
USA "We need to boot Russia out of Sevastopol and sign a NATO lease on their facilities".
Kievans "Seems reasonable and profitable. It's a deal."
Russia "We are taking over Crimea and holding a referendum" Russia takes over Crimea, holds referendum, annexes Crimea which remains Russian as it had been since the 19th century and longer.
USA/Kievans/NATO lapdogs = "Let's get them there Russkies. Russia Russia Russia."
Russia sends "Green men" to help Russians in Donbas resist the Azov Kievans.
USA sends megatons of munitions to mass murder in the independent east. 10,000 easterners dead. Truce signed in Minsk.
Kievans gear up for conquering easterners.
Russia Russia Russia says don't do it, please let's be reasonable.
USA USA USA says go to hell and what's more, sanctions, and get ready to lose Crimea too.
Russia Russia Russia gears up to stop the conquest and NATO preparations for Barbarossa II, 1812 Overture, Charge of the Light Brigade, All Noise on the Western Front.
USA and Kievans keep the cash flowing and continue plans to trample Russians and Russia.
Russia ramps up and drives en masse into Ukraine. World War III is seriously on, though it started long ago when Gorby tried to turn USSR into civilized state but USA kept up the proxy and other attacks.

Russia "We will use atomic bombs if things go too badly so be very very careful". Americans try to keep the fighting between Ukrainians and volunteer green men vs Russia Russia Russia.

Looks as though Russia is doing okay, so atomic bombs on hold for now.

If I was in charge of Russia's military, I think I would have gone nuclear demonstration at the start, so that people would take things more seriously and quickly and cut to the chase and stop the fighting faster before the carnage. Maybe they are more sensible than me and figure better to tolerate say 20,000 dead rather than gear up too fast and risk full scale MAD. Americans seem to understand that turning Washington's historic buildings and marble and whatnot to glass is undesirable.

Americans really disliked losing the Twin Towers and have moaned about it for decades, so I guess they'd dislike having all of New York, out to the tip of Long Island, totally gone even more. Much better for Hunter to have Kievans and Russkies fight to the death while he snorts cocaine, makes videos with prostitutes and banks big bucks for himself and DementiaJoe10%. If it was just Washington turned to glass, maybe too many Americans would think that a good thing.

It's a puzzle that Ukrainians are happy to die and kill Russians/cousins/family so that Hunter can continue with his Sodom and Gomorrah ways. Maybe they are unaware that they are being used in such a way, just as the ants in Spain in 1974 were unaware that a monster was placing and moving bits of cheese between their competing ant nests to see how ants of different species figured out who should have what found wealth. It was interesting how brief the battles were. There were minuscule ants less than a millimetre long, giant ants about 2 cm long, red, black, fast, slow, all sorts.

If cheese was very close to a nest, that tribe would win, but they would lose if the cheese was placed at a particular distance from the competing tribe. If one tribe won it, then it was moved towards the other nest, it would take a longer time for the existing owners to realize something was wrong and they were now the losers.

Since Donetsk is a piece of cheese much closer to Moscow than to Washington, and most Americans wouldn't have a clue where it is, or even which continent, and Moscow is passably able to bite and squirt, with sufficient numbers to do so, and Kievans are not such a powerful tribe, and USA is not a supernatural monster invisible to the fighting tribes, ant-rules mean Russia wins.

Since humans are not ants, and human DNA is spread widely these days across cities and countries, it's not a clear-cut fight between different human species, so there's less incentive for genocidal war. It would upset me if my grandchildren would conduct genocidal war on behalf of ancestral antipathies of the centuries before the 20th. I would certainly not fund one branch to do genocide on another.

Russians and Kievans should not be tempted by bribery and corruption from Hunter and DementiaJoe10%. Come to think of it, Euroserfs in Eurostan and Londonistan should consider whether they really wish to be pawns of Nuland, Biden crime family, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin etc warmongers. Do Euroserfs really want to go without Russian methane for heating and manufacturing over next winter? Are they enjoying poverty while being threatened with nuclear Armageddon? All so Hunter can do his Sodom and Gomorrah games and DementiaJoe10% can finally be the Big Man before the lights go out completely.

I wonder if Milley, Austin and co have phoned Putin and told him that they will NOT be following any orders by DementiaJoe10% to launch any ICBMs etc. They did for Trump who was no risk = that was treachery. In the case of DementiaJoe10% it's just good sense. Putin can see that DementiaJoe10% has no idea what's going on and is just doing as told and reading out what's written. So that's actually worse than for Trump who was mostly in charge [other than for the covid deployment and lots of more], With DementiaJoe10%, Putin might not know who to watch for itchy ICBM finger - there could be and probably is a Dr Strangelove lurking wanting to laumch.

Stanley Kubrick was great.
