Yup.

Two candidates for Illinois secretary of
state launched their advertising for the
March 17 primary, with Democrat Tim
McCarthy and Republican Robert Churchill
using radio in an attempt to sway voters to
their campaigns.

Neither camp would divulge how much
money they're spending on the ads, but both
60-second spots reflect the strategy the
candidates will be using the next few weeks

McCarthy's ad plays up the fact that he was
the Secret Service agent who was shot and
wounded during the 1981 assassination
attempt on former President Ronald
Reagan. But campaign spokesman Kevin
Lampe said Wednesday that McCarthy has
drawn the line about how much future
television ads will rely on that incident. The
candidate "does not want to see a
videotape of that (shooting) in an ad,"
Lampe said.
