Paul, BAAT is not and will not be producing Dolphin Pulse engines in the near future. BAAT is an R&D company, others are better at production management and sales. It is quite possible that Detroit Diesel, Allied or Mack might be building Dolphin engines before the big three. By the way, BAAT is working on a Mack truck as we speak! Additionally, the speedway track manager informed me that his employer- Detroit Diesel was looking into the technology.

Technology has a way of finding itself a home when the cost savings or benefit of the technology exceeds the capitalization expense. In this case a licensing fee. if you read BAAT's press releases the technology is simple but different. These changes are not bolt on but must be done when the engine is built or rebuilt.The crankshaft must be modified. I ahve been told that the engine has a high tech breathing apparatus that is simple and beautiful in the way it works.

As you know diesel engines are usually rebuilt rather than thrown out. The first American application will be with a truck engine manufacturer. Pure economics will drive this train. A truck engine used for commercial purposes that is up to 40% more fuel efficient (if the truck has the same improvement as the Geo- which I highly doubt) with a life expectency of 150,000 to 350,000 miles has a ready market. By the way Allied Signal will be at the track tomorrow.

BAAT is already negotiating with munincipalities and fleets for technology to be applied during rebuilds of busses and other fleet vehicles. BAAT wants a royalty of 1/2 the fuel savings over the life of the rebuild. You do the math. Again, I like it, keeping the shareholders interest at heart during negotiations. Sorry, they are not giving it away to just any nimble competitor- you gotta pay to play. They are taking it to the bank.

I think it was Rockefeller who said monopolies are good and bad. There good if we got them and bad if we don't. BAAT will have a monopoly on the engines built for the near term future.

BAAT is not selling it until they have a deep pocket licensing fee to file the patent. You know as well as I do that every major automible manufacturer has a battalion of patent attorneys on retainer. A filing now would only give full disclosure to a deep pocketed industry that is notorious for thievery. BAAT wants to spend its money developing technology by hiring the best engineers not by wasting shareholder money with expensive attorneys defending patents against the millions that it will take if the big three violate and attack the patent claims. By the way as a patent holder (food technology) I can tell you that a patent does not stop a deep pocketed competitor from copying or using your technology. It only gives you a right to litigate which could take years. Remember the poor guy who shared his intermittent wiper technology with the big three? It took him a decade to collect on his patent.

The reason why they are not selling rebuilds now should be clear.

On a side note, I also heard that the BAT geo accelerated to 90 mph on the track Monday. Call the company if you don't believe me.

One more little thing- Arthur Lipper III (founder of Arthur Lipper Corporation) is the Chairman of BAAT. Too many good names are involved with BAAT to just blow it off.
