Retail is a toss up for me. People have to buy stuff but DG etc are valued for expansion and same store sales were and will be down. With inflation, they won't be able to afford to build new stores.
WMT is always going to be a place everyone goes to. On the other hand, they decided to try and compete with AMZN and as I said before, it's a money pit, even more so with rising fuel costs. Why spend my gas or combine trips, waiting for a long shopping list to make it worthwhile when I can just order from them for a ton of minimum orders and make them spend their gas? They are going to lose their shirts.
Oh, the details of the retail sales report were worse than the headline. Most of the increases were gas while "regular stuff" was down a lot. Not good but market is focused on the Fed so it didn't react much.
