We cannot expect a machine to necessarily be like us, awash in our sensory experience of the world. What does machine intelligence look like when it is not so centered in sensory experience as us, or any other animal for that matter? It literally is a disembodied brain thought problem come alive.

Do we actually know what 'our' sentience is? I think a suitably crafted AI algorithm can be just as sentient as we are. The question of a soul is another debate, however. IMO we're just 'sentient' organic intelligence.

If we make the logical statement that all humans are sentient,

then compared to some humans, AI has likely achieved sentience.

Let's start by looking at the current "leader" of the United States...
