Left suddenly supports free speech (for itself)

Lefty thongs and panties were in a bunch today because YouTube banned a video they like that quoted President Trump talking about the election. That is weird because lefties demanded YouTube ban all videos where he talks about the election.

Then their underwear became so twisted that it cut off blood to their extremities when they learned that Elon Musk fired five Space X employees because they sent around a petition on company time to oust him as CEO.

Musk must read Citizen Free Press because yesterday, upon learning the news, wrote, "Elon Musk should fire every employee who signs this letter."

The Wall Street Journal reported, "SpaceX fired some employees involved in a letter that criticized Chief Executive Elon Musk and the way the company applies internal rules, according to an email to staff from SpaceX’s president and people familiar with it.

"Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s president, said the company conducted an investigation and decided to terminate a number of employees who participated in the effort, according to the email, a copy of which was viewed by The Wall Street Journal. She said the letter diverted employees’ attention from company operations, and she took issue with how the note was circulated, the email showed."

Musk recently told workers they must quit pretending to work from home and show up at the office.

The story also said, "Her email didn’t say how many people the company let go. At least two people who helped lead the effort were fired, according to a person familiar with the situation.

"Some employees at the company recently wrote a letter that called Mr. Musk’s public statements and behavior, particularly during the past several weeks, embarrassing and distracting. The letter asked SpaceX management to publicly separate the company from Mr. Musk’s personal brand, and to take steps to address what it said was a gap between SpaceX’s stated values and its current systems and company culture."

They were mutineers. In an email to the staff, Shotwell said, "We have too much critical work to accomplish and no need for this kind of overreaching activism."

As expected, New York magazine slapped together its reaction, "Elon Musk Wants Free Speech For Himself, Not His Employees."

How odd since liberals keep saying YouTube and Twitter are private companies that can censor at will. Musk does so and suddenly he is a pariah.

Well, he became a pariah when he made his bid to buy Twitter and promised to stop censoring people. You can see why they were upset because the left loves the power to silence and ruin people.

Gizmodo tried to be ironic, writing, "SpaceX Fires Employees Who Dared Question Musk's Tweets."

That actually is what the situation is. How dare a Gizmodo employee publicly upbraid management's decisions and attack the personal behavior of its CEO.

Meanwhile, the New York Times is upset that YouTube censored a video it liked just as YouTube censors videos NYT hates.

NYT reported, "The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot has been trying to draw more eyes to its televised hearings by uploading clips of the proceedings online. But YouTube has removed one of those videos from its platform, saying the committee was advancing election misinformation.

"The excerpt, which was uploaded June 14, included recorded testimony from former Attorney General William P. Barr. But the problem for YouTube was that the video also included a clip of former President Donald J. Trump sharing lies about the election on the Fox Business channel."

NYT won Pulitzers for its actual lies about Russiagate.

But I digress.

Reason magazine -- a Fake Libertarian enterprise -- tripped over itself in reaction.

It wrote, "What happened to the January 6th Committee video is a powerful example of why this standard is so absurd. When policy makers, content moderators, and members of the media take a broad view of what counts as misinformation and disinformation, they are likely to incidentally forbid valid perspectives—including perspectives that are working to correct misinformation, as was the case here."

Ah but it all depends on who determines what valid perspectives are, doesn't it?

Reason then said, "YouTube is a private company and can set whatever policies it deems best. But it seems fairly clear that the election misinformation policy is not working as intended; in fact, it is actively undermining good journalism."

Actually, good journalism is presenting all sides fairly and allowing readers to determine for themselves which are valid perspectives and which are not.

I hate to break the news to all these dinosaur media Einsteins, but people already determine validity. Increasingly the determination is that dinosaur media does not offer a valid perspective.

NYT, Reason and the rest might try dropping censorship and defending the free speech of conservatives because it turns out Russiagate was not real and the concerns about covid vaccines did have some validity.

Meanwhile, I suggest lefties each get a pair of scissors and cut their undies off. Improper circulation to ones legs can risk your life.
