Thanks Tom, that's very helpful.

I'm very interested in helping out my nieces and nephews and wanted to know the value of using AIM over the longterm. They're all under 24 but old enough to having paying jobs, so I want to get them into starting Roth IRAs using dollar cost averaging and an index fund, probably an S&P 500 ETF with low fees, like VOO or VOOG.

I think DCA will be the best choice for them given its simplicity and longterm effectiveness, at least until they're interested in managing their investments more closely, if they ever are.

I told them they'll be putting flowers by my tombstone when they retire to thank me for setting them up for a comfortable retirement by investing relatively young and better than their peers. :-)
