Again you are analyzing from the principled point of view.

You can analyze from the purely political point of view. I would argue there is a benefit to run that exercise. Some policies will attract votes and some will lose votes. A party shouldn't base their positions 100% on that but they should be aware of it.

As observers from the sideline we can afford to be principled. Professional politicians have to at least be aware there are other dimensions.
