Hi Mike:

Actually, the problem of diversity is important especially where it affects the types of crops normally grown for human consumption such as, say, corn. With less diversity, a particular species has a higher likelihood of becoming extinct, or at the very least much less robust.

This is one of the reasons I personally favor the idea of whites, blacks and asians intermarrying -- or at least living together -- and having lots of unprotected sex, and making plenty of babies. It will help increase the strength of the human gene pool. If you can add in 8-foot go-go girls as well, so much the better.

Father (gene pools aren't for swimming) Terrence

Simple. How many different species inhabit an ecosystem in a complementary way. Michael, let me suggest that just as others should not assume that your environmental opinions are a copy of Limbaughs you should likewise not paint all environmental opinions as coming from the Jane Fonda camp. It is entirely possible to believe that nuclear power is the way of the future while abhoring the destruction of our last redwood forests or the spotted owl or the gorilla and tiger in the wild. An uncaring attitude is difficult to stomach. Tell me, would you really feel just as satisfied if all gorillas passed away for all time? Please do not make a joke out of this. It is a very serious matter.
