The Chinese are avid gamblers. Rather surprising for such a conservative society. But I don't think that I have known any other nation who are as big of gamblers.

Yes Chinese and gambling is cultural ... nada about communist...

When I was a kid in Montreal my dad and uber respected community elder my Uncle Marcel took me to the Chinese 'banks'.. was interesting .. if you did not need the money you did very well :)

I also spent hours in the wee hours with my uncle who was a night owl in Chinatown over a bowl of jook (Congee) with his cronies and listening to the tales .. gathering wisdom.. That is why I have some Canto :)

he was the last one that spoke it well and Taishan.. The ones after him including my dad had only fragments.. French yes .. Canto not really .. I speak more than my dad did
