Something to watch for is will power companies discourage charging EVs with record heat everywhere but here where it is expected to reach 75F today.

From nextdoor so I left off the author for privacy

We had a lively discussion the other day on EVs. Some of what I predicted is happening. Tesla owners in Texas are being told not to charge their cars from 2-8pm due to undue strain on the power grid. An individual with an 8 year old EV needed to replace the Lithium battery pack. Cost not including labor was $14K. Cars value was only $11K. Decided to do the replace only to find out the manufacturer doesn't make the batteries anymore. Dealer offered $500 to scrap the EV. Biggest concern is for owners who are vulnerable to crime when spending an hour to charge in an unsafe area and especially at night. The power grid is failing everywhere. I absolutely do not like to say this.
One reply is from a guy with a startup that has an energy bus to manage all the power systems then use your Tesla battery as the backup when the grid goes down along with solar to help charge the battery.

So we'll have EXPENSIVE battery powered cars that you have to scrap... and solar panels with 25 year life that also can't be fully recycled...
