Looks like we might have a reason for SFAM NOT tanking after issuing Friday's earnings warning. BTW -- There is more CMP related stuff in these notes.

Also, I want to correct something that I wrote in this:

message. First of all, the semiconductor company is AMD and second, the expansion in Germany will take place over two years, not four. That's 70 SFAM CMP machines over the next 8 quarters. The spokesperson at AMD was very adamant that this fab was being built as fast as they could built it with absolutely NO thoughts of pushing anything out. The IR AMD person also said that she couldn't confirm the CMP company as that was their policy. While I'm pretty confident in my source, I'm still amazed at the number of machines that will be needed to make the K-7. BTW - The German fab will be making the K-7's with 0.18 micron design rules.
