Don't make this a partisan issue. Every US administration since Nixon has contributed to it. From the US perspective, the one China policy has always meant that either Taiwan gets to rule China or that China will evolve into Taiwan. This is not happening, hence the conflict. Regardless, Taiwan is of a greater strategic importance to the US than Israel. And going forward, I expect every administration to make it clear that a takeover of Taiwan is not something that China should aspire to.
