I need to visit Taiwan with my GF to see for sure, as she has family there and visits often, but my belief and observation of life and news is they are a society of mostly ethnic Chinese... no open borders for illegal aliens from poor countries to come in... if they want low paid workers, I believe it is acceptable to bring them from other countries as "helpers" and pay them very low wages. That is Taiwan is a free country for the educated and wealthy but they may face problems similar to those seen in Europe and in the US when "migrants" flood their shores. If they don't accept them as the EU, US and Canada seem to do, then they are more like China in many ways.

I don’t think that is necessarily true. It has been postulated that the issue with Taiwan is that attacks on mainland China have been launched from Taiwan. Much in the same way Russia would never allow NATO to take a foothold in Ukraine as it has always been the gateway to any attacks on Russia now the same sort of threat is provoking China. I hope it isn’t so but unfortunately I find that plausible and credible.

Give me a break. If you know anything about Taiwan, you know the politicians spend more per vote than any other democracy on the planet. Why? The return in graft is massive!

30-years ago it was something like $5 average spent per vote to be elected for for any position. It's probably triple that now.
