Isn't the illegal immigration issue one of the responsibilities of the current VP?

Here we have a severe shortage of "affordable housing."

I keep telling anyone who'll listen that the biggest cost of new housing is the government since the property taxes on new construction is probably 50% of what those on subsidized, low cost housing pay currently on buildings with low property tax.

So, we know anything new will probably need $500 to $1,000 a month just to pay the property taxes plus taxes on the income the owner makes after paying those taxes...

Then we have illegal immigration bringing in poor people who need housing faster than we can build any type of housing, so the cost of housing for the poor soars and contributes to inflation. Some try to solve this via rent control so that simply stops people from building low cost housing UNLESS they build awful projects nobody wants that they load up here with all sort of exemptions to put up to 3 to 8 story buildings where single story small businesses used to be. We have tons of these gawd-awful projects near me with rents for the top floors at $6K a month then the bottom floor for businesses are mostly empty because they have the have to charge so much for food or service that few use them and they have to pay even more for workers who can't afford to live in the projects... crazy.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Texas with all the "genius Californians" you are attracting who will vote to give sanctuary status to the illegal workers so they have lower cost labor then let someone else worry how to house them... along with food and health care.

It is a tough problem.
