They also have every reason, politically, to not indict him, at least until they charge him for something major, like fake electors. If you're gonna risk armed mobs, it had better be for something more substantial than violations of the records act. I don't agree with the above. Trump has committed so many crimes they have a wealth of charges. Records act violations seem disconnected from all the other crimes (fake electors, incitement, conspiracy to stop the electoral vote count). It seems an open and shut case. Did he still have presidential records at MAL or not? If he did, he's guilty of that crime and its a crime that would block him from holding office again. They can still charge with other crimes later. Re the records act violations, he might even get a soft penalty ... some kind of house arrest, perhaps. Which he would violate out of spite but the option of locking him up is still there. As to armed mobs, we're gonna have them anyway. Might as well put them down early on. We can't be buffaloed by the threat of mob violence.
