I'd like to know where Mr Black gets his information about VLSI -- his statement about 0.5, 0.6um and gate densities are bogus. 0.35um is the production process of the moment with 0.25um on line and moving into production with 0.20um process up and running with production planned this year (that's the same as what is called 0.18um at LSI) so what's the deal? Of course there are still old designs in production at 0.5 and 0.6um because customers ordered them and they still go through. But there is no design activity there. I'd also like to know where Mr Black got his information about densities because VLSI is as competitive as it gets. Don't be mislead by such statements that come from people who "went out there and weren't impressed" -- Let the products and profits speak for themselves. As for LSI not competing with VLSI in communications it's not that they haven't tried -- why would Lucent be a competitor otherwise but not VLSI? I could rattle on for a good while yet, but I think there is no need. VLSI is a good company with a good plan and good results to show for it. The market will be following -- just time to be patient for now.....

With today's share values :

LSI Logic - $27.00 - Price/sales = 3.0
VLSI Technology - $23.56 - Price/sales = 1.5

So... If each companies is as good as each other, I don't see why
VLSI is not at 2 x 23.56 = $47 !!! :-)

Any comment ?
