Yes, and Smith's opponent, the ethically-challenged Patty Murray, is out fundraising Smith something like 6 to 1. I believe Murray is the one those Dems that got elected courtesy of the media driven fallout of the Clarence Thomas inquisition. Clinton should provide a significant undertow for Dems this Fall, but Murray's $ advantage is still a large obstacle. One wag, keenly noting the absence of a Howard Baker or Goldwater on the Dem side, said "There are no statesmen in the Democrat Party".
