I think the majority of the jobs that are unfilled are entry level jobs. Covid caused a lot of people to move out of hospitality and restaurant service jobs, and those vacancies are still hard to fill.

Someone let go at Meta isn't going to work at McDonald's handling the drive thru.

One of the issues behind the labor shortage is there were 2-million fewer immigrants in 2018-2021, which also is the number of jobs above trend that can't be filled.

The labor shortage is partly the result of further restrictions on legal immigration to the US.

Construction industry was hit hard, demand for new homes evaporated. Sticky home prices, a huge affordability and demand drop.
2 jobs is good, people need 2 jobs to not fall behind -g-
