From time to time I think back and wonder what JFK would have done if the Soviets had tried to breech the blockade.


He ordered a destroyer to prevent the Soviet ship from entering Cuban waters. It fired a couple of warning shots across the bow and the Soviet ship stopped. He gave orders to sink it if necessary.

Sm1th answered and I agree. JFK would have fought. Soviet rockets in Cuba would have been a thorn in our side - and a constant threat. Imagine a crisis like we have today, except all of Cuba would be a Russian base. NOT acceptable. Exactly for the same reason, we had no business encouraging Ukraine to join nato. It would cause unnecessary tension which would eventually lead to dangerous situations. We are finding out how much love those cousins have for each other. Sooner or later, something would have gone wrong - except, it would be Russia directly against NATO.

Some of the deep thinkers in our DoS need to be fired for stupidity.
