AFAIK, hydrogen isn't such a good battery for renewable energy. The process to generate hydrogen just isn't efficient enough.

Hydrogen is better used in vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks, because of its energy density.

One advantage of hydrogen, however, is it portability. Can't transport utility-scale Li-Ion batteries very easily, but hydrogen can be transported to any place that needs it.
